Sesame Broccoli with Tofu
Day 43: I love this dish! I’m really getting into tofu but, in the back of my mind, I have this vague idea that it is bad for me. Any ideas, anyone? I only really ever had it deep fried in my red Thai curry, but now I’m finding all sorts of ways to enjoy it.
Oh – top mum tip: tofu done this way or in the broiler makes a great teething food!
Ingredients:
1 lb tofu, cut into chunks
1 head of broccoli
A little olive oil
Tofu Marinade:
2 Tbs soy sauce (I used Bragg Liquid Aminos)
2 Tsp toasted sesame oil
Dressing:
1 Tbs lime juice (I use Santa Cruz)
1 Tbs Bragg’s Liquid Aminos
1 Tbs Sesame Oil
2 Tsp Sesame Seeds
First, mix the marinade ingredients, toss in the tofu cubes and allow to marinade for about an hour.
Cut the broccoli into even-sized pieces, stalks and all.
Steam broccoli for about five minutes.
Toast sesame seeds in a small, solid frying pan. Heat it over a medium heat, shaking them until they start popping; about 1-2 minutes.
In a separate pan, heat the olive oil. Add the marinaded tofu. Pour over the remaining marinade. Allow to cook until browned on all sides.
Mix the broccoli and tofu in a bowl. Add the dressing, toss. (UK friends – the veg and tofu)
