Raw ‘Brain’ Brownies..Mwahahahahahhah!

I love, love, love these! Thank you, Denise Mari from Organic Avenue for this delicious alternative to all that Halloween filled-with-chemicals-and-so-bad-for-you-in-so-many-ways candy. Instead, have raw brownies! I know, you’ll be disappointing the kids. But pleasing your tongue. So, there you go. I got all my ingredients from vitacost – you’ll see a discount code to the right, there – tons of delicious dates, walnuts, etc, delivered to our door. By the way, I halved the ingredients below and immediately regretted it. Oh, but I did use more cacao powder – I like my brownies chocolatey!
Oh, I read in Power Foods for the Brain, by Dr. Neal Barnard, that Vitamin E is great for the brain. Walnuts are full of vitamin E, so these are good for you, too!
Raw 'Brain' BrowniesIngredients:
1.5 C organic walnuts
16 pitted deglet dates (I used Medjool. I don’t know what deglet dates are!)
1/3 C cacao powder
1 tsp vanilla bean scrape (the original recipe calls for powder)
2 tsp purified water
dash sea salt

extra walnuts for the top – the ‘brains’.

Grind the walnuts in a food processor with a pinch of salt, until finely ground. Add the cacao powder and vanilla. Mix. Add the dates and the water, process until it forms a doughy mixture.

Tablespoon out some dough, roll into a ball then pat down into a mini-brownie round. Place on a cooking tray covered with a sheet of parchment paper. Press a walnut on the top. Place in the fridge for about 30 minutes until slightly hardened. I love these!
