My Thai Vegan Cafe, Boston
I had a stay in Boston. I was looking forward to trying out Grezzo – I love her recipe book – check out her kale chips, for example – only to find it had closed down. There aren’t a ton of vegan restaurants in downtown Boston (or raw) but the one I did find totally made up in flavor what the city lacks in quantity.
I felt a cold coming on and ordered way to much food, including a spicy Tom Yum Gai soup to chase the cold away. The portions were enormous. I don’t know about your experience, but rarely does a portion of spring rolls come on a bed of noodles with a crispy lettuce garnish and two dipping sauces. Three spring rolls instead of your usual two. The soup was deliciously aromatic and packed with veggies. I think it had slivers of veggie-shrimp in their, too, which were nothing like shrimp, thank goodness. The Gaeng Dang, comprised a heaping pile of noodles on a bed of spinach, laden with a mound of vegetables and veggie-chicken, topped off with a layer of peanuts and a slice of lime.
To follow, I had a vegan carrot cake – a HUGE portion! I was so full but I couldn’t stop eating it! It was dressed in white vegan cream cheese dressing like a wedding cake! Full I am. Healthy I do not feel.
